Parish Councillor

Robert Turnell

Robert was born in Leicestershire and began his career with the Leicestershire and Rutland Constabulary in 1964, later serving in the Criminal Investigation Department. His work included involvement in the world’s first case where DNA evidence was used to convict a serial killer, alongside many other high-profile investigations.

After retiring from the police in 1992, Robert moved to Lowdham, where he has lived ever since. He worked in the legal sector until 2001, then returned to policing as a consultant “mainly dealing with licensing issues” with Nottinghamshire Police until his final retirement in 2011.

A keen sportsman in his younger days, Robert played rugby, tennis and cricket, and still enjoys golf, gardening, classical music, musical theatre and opera. He has also sung with several male voice choirs.

Robert is committed to giving something back to the community and sees his role as parish councillor as an excellent way to do so.
